Hi, I'm Gianni and this is my blog.
Welcome! I'm a student journalist down at San Diego State. This is a space where we're going to explore the human stories hidden within San Diego, from the fun to the mundane to the scary. As an aspiring war correspondent, I hope to better understand the political and cultural zeitgeist of our city through deeply personal features about its citizens.
The central feature I'll be tackling this semester is the proliferation of "dinner clubs" across students of San Diego State. These are student-directed dinner parties: facilitated by senior Emma Jiang, strangers pay a small fee to cover requisite costs, assemble at the host's house and try new dishes over wine and board games. As I work on this story, I'll be documenting my journey on the path to understanding digital journalism in a series of blog posts on this site. I'll be reflecting on the progress made and on my current understanding of the digital media landscape as it pertains to and filters through this feature. Join me as we dig deep into this story!
